Disorders of the mind, although not uncommon, are mostly undiagnosed and do not require adequate attention in most health care settings. In VKM Hospital, the Department of Psychiatry not only provides medical treatment but also conducts counseling sessions for a wide spectrum of psychiatric disorders. Sessions for children with behavioural disorders, adolescents with impaired cognition, anxiety in students, pre marital and post marital counseling for couples, group counseling sessions for similar disorders or deaddiction patients are done here. We also have age related progressive disorders counseling wherein sessions are focused on better management of such a member in the family.
